Mountains for Miracles is a registered 501(c)(3) organization devoted to raising capital and awareness for innovative pediatric oncology research at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the pursuit of epic mountaineering and trekking expeditions. Mountains for Miracles provides the public with the opportunity to join grand mountaineering expeditions and adventure treks around the world while assisting in the fight against cancer through raising funds from personal networks of friends and family. From climbs of Mount Rainier and Mount Kilimanjaro to trekking expeditions of the Nepalese Himalayans, Mountains for Miracles, through its partnership with Eastern Mountain Sports, enables the public to reach the world’s highest peaks while helping the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute eradicate childhood cancers.
The Mountains for Miracles participatory philanthropy fundraising model uses mountaineering and trekking as a vehicle for raising capital and awareness needed for the fight against childhood cancers. Specifically, the organization offers two primary programs for participation by the public: the Group Climber Program (GCP); and the Individual Climber Program (ICP).
Both of these programs offer a multitude of varying expeditions for potential climbers, trekkers, and adventurers to join as fundraisers for the Mountains for Miracles organization. In the interest of providing a broad array of expeditions, the organization offers trips both domestically and internationally, both technically accessible and technically challenging, and both value and premium oriented. The central theme of Mountains for Miracles product offerings is twofold: (1) all expeditions are inspiring, memorable once-in-a-lifetime experiences to the most beautiful and remote locations in the world; and (2) participation in all expeditions serves to bring much needed capital for the fight against childhood cancer.
